March 24th & 25th Weekend Report

By Keegan Rogers, 03/27/18, 12:15PM PDT

We begin our Weekend Report with the B04 Navy Bellevue team who won a huge game 3-1 against ISC Gunners to win the Super League 2 title at Issaquah Highlands Central Park.  After the starting whistle, the team was never in doubt of taking home the title.  Goal scorers Brandon Son, Jacob Martin, and Kody Luo led the team to a big lead and defensively, everyone played as a unit.  This is a big accomplishment for Coach Keenan and the squad and the team will carry this momentum into State Cup as they continue to prepare to make a big run. Keep up the good work Boys!

B06 Navy Mercer Island had a very busy weekend as they traveled to Eastern Washington for their double-header against two very tough opponents.  In their first matchup, the boys won a tight matchup against Hawks SC 1-0.  The boys outclassed the opposition and attacked well in the first half.  Standout player Woody Brown scored a great goal.  Defensively, the boys did what they do best and kept the opposition at bay.  Lucas Shelton had himself a day and kept their best player out of the game. Great team result, but their weekend wasn’t over.

In their game the following day, the boys drew against a very strong CWSA team 1-1 in Yakima.  The boys left it all on the pitch and deserved the point. The team got an early goal thanks to an assist from goalkeeper Aidan who punted a ball down to the pitch to speedster striker Cole who smashed the ball near post to put the team ahead.  The boys had a couple chances to win the game, but the opposing goalkeeper played well.  Overall, coach Jack was very pleased with team results over the weekend.  The B06 Navy Mercer Island team embodies the term ‘efficiency’ as they have scored 6 goals all season, conceded only 5, but remain in 3rd place with a great chance to take over 2nd place before the season’s end.  Great stuff from Coach Jack and the squad.

G07 Navy Bellevue tied a great match 2-2 against a good Gunners team.  The girls climbed to a solid 2-0 lead and had control of the game.  With about 10 minutes remaining in the match, the opposition stepped up their defensive pressure and the girls conceded two late goals.  It was a tough break for the girls, but the team had a very successful Spring season, especially after they stepped up into a higher division.  We are proud of the all the work the girls put into their Spring season and we are excited to see their continued development as a group. Well done Titans!

The B05 Navy Bellevue team competed against Eclipse FC on Saturday and came away with a tight 2-1 win.  The boys started off great combining passes all over the pitch, getting into dangerous areas, and the boys played with confidence.  Captain Walker got the first goal of the game with a shot from the 18 yard line.  The boys came into halftime with a comfortable lead, but the second half was much different than the first.  The opposition picked up the pressure and lobbed several balls into the Titan's half.  Striker Luke was able to notch the second goal of the game to make it 2-0, but the opposition never stopped and grabbed a goal back to make it 2-1.  The boys bunkered down and kept the opposition at bay for the remainder of the game to finish it out.  It was a tight match, but the better team won and they will look to improve in training this week.

The G08 Navy Bellevue team got a big result against Seattle Celtic as they took home a 2-1 victory.  Lexi and Lily tallied the two goals thanks to some incredible individual displays and some excellent teamwork.  Coach Mario and the girls are seemingly outsized in every matchup, but that doesn’t discourage the girls.  These ladies aren’t afraid of any challenge and approach every match with a ton of confidence.  The girls have three games remaining and are looking to finish their season strong! Keep up the good work!!!

The B04 White Bellevue team lost a tough match 3-2 against Dragons FC at Franklin High School.  The boys scored two amazing goals to keep themselves in the game, but couldn’t quite overcome the opposition.  There were a couple of questionable offside calls that were missed and those are always tough to bounce back from.  The boys have been competing very hard over the season and they should be proud of the way they are playing.  The boys wills look to rebound in training this week and finish their season strong. Keep up the good work Titans!!!

The G06 Navy Bellevue team came away from the weekend with a solid 0-0 draw against the Fury.  The girls dominated the game in nearly every statistical category.  They had numerous shots on goal, several combined passes, and were a wall in the back.  Coach Gabe was pleased with the way the girls played disciplined soccer.  It was a solid team result and the girls will build on this performance in training this week. This team continues to represent out club well and we look forward to seeing this squad finish strong.

B06 Navy Bellevue had two big games over the weekend and the boys accepted the challenge with open arms.  In their first match, the boys started slow against Fury as they had a difficult time dealing with the high press.  Fortunately, the boys found gaps in their pressure and Georgie was able to score two of the team’s first goals.  Eri was also able to get on the scoresheet when he scored a goal from a corner kick.  The final score was 3-1 in the Titan’s favor.

In their final game of the season, the boys competed against Cascade and put on a show in their dominating 5-1 performance.  The boys had control of the first half, but went into halftime 1-0 down.  In the second half, the team played even better and after the first goal was converted, the flood gates opened the boys dominated the stat sheet.  Brayden Guenther got two goals while Georgie, Kaliyan, and Kousei all got one goal each to finish their season strong. We are very proud of what this team has been able to accomplish and we are excited to see what the future holds for this squad.

The B05 Navy Mercer Island boys competed against FC Edmonds at Lynwood High School and couldn’t quite get a result.  The boys played well against a strong opponent and never gave up.  Goalkeeper Jordan Goodwin made some outstanding saves to keep the team in the game.  Offensively, the boys played with a tremendous amount of energy and got into some dangerous areas of the pitch, but couldn’t quite find the back of the net.  The boys compete against another strong opponent in their next matchup and the team is looking forward to the challenge.

The B09 Navy Mercer Island team lost a tough match 2-1 over the weekend against Seattle Celtic at Salmon Bay Elementary.  The boys came into this match as the league leaders and were looking to build on their league standing. However, the ball just didn’t quite bounce their way in the game.  The boys hammered the opposition and had several opportunities in front of goal, but couldn’t quite convert their chances.  The boys will bounce back in training and rebound to compete for the top spot.

The B07 Navy Bellevue team lost a tough match over the weekend against Southlake at Robinswood Park.  The boys played well in the first half, but couldn’t quite come together to finish strong.  The boys never gave up and Coach Keenan was proud of the team’s ability to stay disciplined and compete to the very end.   The boys will look to rebound in training and improve on their performance.  Keep up the good work boys!

The B09 White Bellevue team had an excellent game over the weekend as they took home a 3-2 win over Seattle Celtic.  What makes this game great was that the boys battled back after being down twice.  Coach Mario was pleased with the way the boys responded to adversity.  Chase got himself on the end of all three goals, but the team build up to the goals was nothing short of great.  Very positive result from the squad.  The boys have two games left and have a possibility of finishing in first place.  Coach Mario and the squad will look to finish the season strong!

The B09 Navy Bellevue team lost a tough match 7-3 against Seattle Celtic at Starfire. Offensively, the boys played exhilarating soccer as they were relentless in the attacking third, creative in 1v1 scenarios, and they moved the ball around effectively.  However, the boys struggled defensively and couldn’t quite get back into the game after going down.  Coach Keenan was pleased with the way Eason and Marcello both stepped in goal and played well to keep the team in the game.  The squad will bounce back in training this week and work on their defending.

To round out the Weekend Report, the B06 White Bellevue team came away with their 7th straight victory of the season with a solid 4-0 win over Narrows FC at Robinswood Park.  The boys were tied 0-0 at halftime, but the boys unleashed their offensive firepower in the second half and tucked away 4 unanswered goals thanks to some unselfish and creative play in the attacking third.  The boys have already secured the league title, but Coach Nelson and the boys are looking to run the table.  Huge accomplishment for this team and we are proud for what they have been able to accomplish so far.
