We start off our Weekend Review with the G02 Navy Bellevue team who completed their last game of the season with a great 1-0 win over TC United at Newport Hills Park. The girls gave it their all in their final match of the season. Coach Adam was pleased with their desire and team spirit heading into their final matchup. Despite only having 11 players, the team followed the game plan to perfection and they brought all energy and played their hearts out. Standout performances came from Meghan Day who kept the team’s shutout and team captain Lexi Canales who scored an immaculate free kick in the second half to ultimately win the game. This group has played very well all season and we are proud of this team’s continued success. Well done ladies!
The B05 Navy Bellevue team had an eventful double header this weekend! On Saturday, the boys tied 3-3 against RSA Elite at Chinook Middle School. The boys battled back from 2-0 down to get back into the game and tie it up near the end. The boys played great in the attacking third. On Sunday, the boys had another 3-3 tie against Emerald City at Robinswood Park. It was a highly competitive match with tons of action. The boys were 2-1 down at one point but climbed back to a 3-2 lead. In the final minutes of the match, the boys conceded a tough goal to finish 3-3. Coach Jack was very pleased with the team’s effort and desire all weekend. Two very tough games against good opponents, but the boys never gave up and continued to battle back. Well done boys!
The G07 Navy Bellevue team had two great results over the weekend as they won 4-1 against RSA and 1-0 against Nortac Sparta! Coaches Jack and Jaynie were pleased with the ladies in both of their matches. The girls have been working hard in training and improving on their defensive shape, their ability to get the ball in dangerous areas of the pitch, and pressing high up the field. Their hard work continues to pay off as the girls currently sit in second place in the Superleague division. Proud of this team’s continued development!
The B09 Navy Bellevue team had two tough matches over the weekend and couldn’t quite come away with a victory. Although the results didn’t quite go their way, Coach Keenan was pleased with the way the boys played the beautiful game. The B09s did a great job of building out of the back, playing through the midfield, and keeping the ball on the floor. Despite the results, the boys continue to develop and improve their abilities individually and as a unit. Well done boys!
G08 Navy Bellevue lost a tight match 2-1 against a good Seattle Celtic team. However, Coach Mario was very pleased with the way the girls competed. The team has been trying some new methods in training and they are paying off. The girls had a lot of success combining with each other all over the pitch and they shelled the opposition. The Celtic goalkeeper played tremendously and kept their team in the game. The opposition scored two great goals, but overall, Mario was pleased with the way his team played. Coach Mario and the girls will look to continue their good form next weekend!
The B04 Navy Bellevue squad came away with a big result over the weekend as they won 3-2 against Aguilas at Starfire. In their previous matchup, the boys lost 2-1 to this team. In the return the fixture, there was a lot on the line for the squad as their position as league leaders was in jeopardy if they couldn’t get a result. The boys went down 2-0 with some early struggles in the match, but the boys battled back and scored 3 unanswered goals to come out with the 3-2 result. The win keeps the boys at the top of the table with two games remaining, one of which is against 2nd place team United SC La Raza. Coach Keenan and the boys will be gearing up for an exciting finish to their Spring season.
The G02 White Bellevue team lost a tough, physical match to ASE FC 4-0 at Columbia Basin College. Coach Nelson was very pleased with the way the girls showed grit as some of the players played through some nagging injuries. The girls went into halftime down 1-0. In the second half, the girls peppered the opposition, but couldn’t quite convert any of their chances. The opposition scored their final three goals in the remaining 10 minutes through some good set pieces. Near the end of the match, the girls earned themselves a penalty, but couldn’t quite convert the set piece. Although the result didn’t quite go their way, Coach Nelson was proud of the way the girls competed and finished their season strong. Well done ladies!
B06 White Bellevue continue to dominate in the league with their 6th straight victory over the weekend with a 5-1 victory over Emerald City FC. The boys got in a hole very early when they conceded in the first 10 minutes, but after the boys made some adjustments, the boys rebounded and scored 5 unanswered goals. Solid bounce-back performance from the squad and Coach Nelson was buzzing over the result. Very proud of this team’s season performances so far and they have no intention of slowing down. The boys will be looking to get their 7th straight victory next weekend.
B06 White Mercer Island with a big 3-0 victory over the weekend. The boys have been working very hard in training this week as they focused on building out the back and playing expansive soccer. Their training came into fruition over the weekend as the boys played very well as a unit, strung together numerous passes, and got the ball into dangerous positions of the field. The boys had a great team goal finished off by Joseph D. and it embodied everything that the boys worked on in training. Very proud of this group and their continued development.
B05 Navy Mercer Island put in their best team performance of the weekend with a solid 3-1 victory over WFA Warriors. The boys were down 1-0 in the first half, but the boys kept on pressing. Coach Keegan believed that this would be their breakout game, and the boys certainly didn’t disappoint. The boys grabbed three unanswered goals thanks to some very unselfish play, dynamic runs in the final third, and with a tremendous amount of heart and determination. Coach Keegan was pleased with everyone’s effort and desire. They will have a big challenge this weekend as they compete against the first place team.
B07 Navy Bellevue got a 4-0 win over a good Emerald City FC team at Odle Middle School. The boys came out firing and striker Alex Baldwin got an early brace to put the team ahead of the opposition. The boys looked comfortable in the attack as they switched the field and didn’t panic when they received pressure. The boys added 2 more goals later in the match and the result was well deserved. Proud of this team and their continued development.
B09 Navy Mercer Island played their best game of the season over the weekend and won 4-0 against a good Rapids team. The boys brought a tremendous amount of energy to the match and you could tell they were always going to enjoy the game. The opening goal came from stand out player Antoni who hit a full volley from outside the box to lob the goalkeeper. Incredible goal from one of the youngest players on the field. The team came together and put away 3 more goals in their performance. It was a full team effort and everyone played their best. Coach Keegan said the game was very fun to watch as the team really played the game the way it was supposed to. The B05 Navy Mercer Island currently sits in first place!
The G04 Navy Bellevue squad tied 3-3 against a solid Anacortes Vikings team at Newport Hills Park. Coach Tye was happy with the way the girls competed. These ladies always bring the energy to every match and they enjoy every minute of every game. The girls played direct, getting the ball up the field and pressing the opponents in dangerous areas of the field. Both teams were evenly matched and the score line certainly reflected that. We are very proud of the way the girls played and we are looking forward to their next matchup!
To round out our Weekend Review, the G01 Navy teams split their results over the weekend in Eastern Washington to finish out their strong season. In their first matchup, the girls faced off against ASE Emerald who are the sitting National Champions. The girls kept the game tight as the score was 0-0 with about 10 minutes remaining. They played very well and were disciplined around the entire pitch. However, the girls couldn’t quite fend of the opposition and conceded 2 goals in the final minutes of the game. It was a valiant effort from the girls, but they had another game to focus on the following day. Despite no subs, tired legs, and a long roadtrip, the girls came out firing and won 3-0 against Spokane Foxes. The girls played very well in the back keeping the shutout, and Simrat, Sheer, and Kat all got on the scoresheet to put the team in front. The girls finished 3rd in the NPL standings and are now focused on showcasing well in the upcoming State Cup! The G01s have had a phenomenal season and we are proud of all their recent success.
