We start off the Titans FC Weekend Report with our B05 Navy Mercer Island team who got their first win of the season after their 2-0 victory over Kent City. Coach Keegan and the boys have been focusing on ball movement and speed of play in training and it came into fruition during the game. The boys were unstoppable going forward and hammered the opposition. Defensively, goalkeeper Linus Hykes got his first shutout on the season and will look to double his shutout record next weekend. The boys will look to improve on their finishing in this week’s training and continue to improve on their speed of play as well.
Our G06 Navy team took on a decent FC Bellevue team and couldn’t quite get a result. Offensively, the girls created a number of chances using the width of the pitch and getting service into the box. Coach Gabe said that these girls created more crosses in this match than any other match he has coached. However, no one could get on the receiving end of the crosses to put one in the back of the net. Coach Gabe will look to help the girls improve on their finishing in training and they will look to get a better result next weekend!
The B07 Navy Bellevue team got a great result over the weekend winning 4-0 against the ISC Gunners at Issaquah Highlands Central Park. Despite the snowy conditions, the boys came out firing and got an early lead and never looked back. Goalkeeper Karan continues to collect the shutouts for the team and maintains his reputation of being a wall in goal. Midfielder Shuya also continues to rack up the goals with a brace in the match. Robert and Sebastian rounded out the score sheet. Coach Keenan was proud of the way the boys played and they will look to continue their good form in next weekend’s matchup.
The G04 Navy team secured a great 1-0 victory over North Country Alliance at Wilburton Park. Defensively the girls were solid and secured a shutout against some decent chances. The girls also created several opportunities, but the opposing goalkeeper made some excellent saves and kept the Titan attack at bay. Towards the end of the match, the scoresheet gave way thanks to an incredible goal from standout player Valentina Larrondo. Valentina found herself 30 yards from goal in the second half and unleashed a venomous half volley to lob the opposing goalkeeper and take the lead. It was a tremendous effort worthy of winning any match. Very good result for Coach Tye and the G04s!
The B04 Navy team got a big result over the weekend winning 8-0 against Seattle Celtic at Lower Midlands Playfields in Seattle. The boys were relentless going forward and the opposition had no answer. Jacob and Leo both got a brace, while Kody, David, Brandon, and Taesung rounded out the scoresheet. Jackson and Anders both helped out the team and secured the shutout. The B04 Navy Bellevue team currently sits in first place in the league and will look to maintain that top position in next weekend’s match.
The G07 Navy Bellevue team also won in similar fashion as the B04s with the big 8-0 win over Nortac Sparta. Coach Jack and the girls pressed high up the field and won balls in great areas of the field. This is their first victory in the Superleague division and Coach Jack was pleased with the way the team performed away in Tacoma. The girls will look to double their win total next weekend! Go Titans!
The G08 Navy team split their games over the weekend getting one win and one loss against some good teams down in Ravensdale. In their first match, the girls lost to a physical MRFC team. The girls created opportunities, but they couldn’t quite keep up with the team’s physicality. In their second game, the girls rebounded and got a 4-0 win over Fusion. The girls controlled the ball the moved it around the pitch seemingly at will. The girls put away their chances in the second game and fully deserved the win. Coach Mario says that the girls played the game well in both matches and said that he will be working on finishing in training this week with the ladies. Go Titans!
The B09 Navy Mercer Island team had two games over the weekend and split their games as well with a win and a loss. In their first game, the boys played a solid Seattle Celtic team and lost 4-2 in a back and forth game. The boys created several opportunities but couldn’t quite equalize in the second half. In the second match, the boys were flawless and bossed the game. At one point, Coach Keegan recollects the team completing about 35 passes without the other team touching the ball! Amazing stuff from the boys who will be tested next weekend against another solid Seattle Celtic team.
The B09 Navy Bellevue team had a successful weekend earning a 6-4 win over Normandy Park FC 6-4 down in Ravensdale. Despite the snowy conditions, the boys were energized and buzzing around the pitch. Coach Keenan and the squad have been focusing on structure and it showed in the game. The boys were pressing up the field, defensively the boys were tough to beat, and they countered the opposition nearly to perfection. Cam and Chase were big contributors to the team's result and the two of them will look to lead the team next weekend in their next matchup.
