Titans FC Weekend Review February 10th & 11th

By Keegan Rogers, 02/12/18, 1:45PM PST

The G01 Navy Titans faced off against the ISC Gunners A team over the weekend and put on a show.  The game was intense and competitive from start to finish.  In the start of the second half, Sheer Shalom broke through and got the winning goal to secure a 1-0 victory.  Goalkeeper Mari Rosenwald had an outstanding game and kept the clean sheet as well.  Great team performance from the ladies! The G01s now currently sit in first place of the top division in the PSPL.  Their successful run continues and they are showing no signs of slowing down. Well done ladies!!!

The B06 Navy boys had a long day in Poulsbo to compete against NK Fuerza.  The heavy legs from the travel showed in the first half when they dug themselves a hole and conceded early.  Coach Javi was fired up and motivated the boys at halftime.  The boys conceded another goal off the counter attack early in the second half, but after the lapse in the back, the boys went on the attack and hammered the opposition.  The boys wound up beating the opposition 5-3 in a big comeback win. Despite being up against the ropes, you can never count out the B06 Navy team.  Well done!

The G06 Titans improved significantly from their last match from the previous weekend.  Coach Gabe was pleased with the decision making the girls made on the pitch.  There was great ball movement, excellent service into the box, and crafty plays being made in the offensive third.  The girls created several opportunities and tucked away 3 great goals.  However, the girls conceded late and lost 4-3 to a good MVP Rapids team.  Big improvement from last weekend, but they will look to get a better result in their next match.

The B07 Navy Bellevue team lost a very tight game 4-3 against a solid Seattle Celtic team.  Coach Keenan will look to focus on defensive shape in their training over the upcoming week.  However, Keenan was pleased with standout defender Grant. F. who cleaned up several team mistakes and started three counter attacks for goals.  He was the team’s complete player and worked hard to keep his team in the game.  Well done Grant!

The G04 Titans competed against Emerald City at Loyal Heights Park in Seattle over the weekend.  The game was very even and went down to the wire.  Unfortunately, the girls conceded a very late goal and couldn’t quite recover to make it level. Our staff was pleased with the way the girls carried themselves and battled to last whistle.  The girls will look to bounce back after the mid-winter break on their home pitch.  Well done ladies!

The B06 White Mercer Island team lost a hard-fought game against Cascade FC.  The boys were tied and were given a penalty.  However, the boys couldn’t quite convert, and the opposition countered and scored to put them on top 2-1.  One of the youngest players on the squad Brady Riffle put the Titans in the position to get a result.   Lots of of promising play from the boys and Coach Javi will look to get them ready in their next matchup!

B05 Navy Mercer Island lost a tough game to Cascade over the weekend.  In the first half, the team struggled to get up the field and put the opposition under pressure.  After some adjustments at halftime, the game completely changed and 70% of the game was played in the opposition's half.  The boys created several opportunities but couldn’t quite find the back of the net.  Coach Keegan and the boys will focus a lot of their attention on shooting in training this week. Well done boys!

After a small hiccup on Saturday, the B01s came out and hammered the opposition and took home a 4-0 win against Eclipse.  The boys played total soccer, possessed the ball, switched the field of play, and capitalized when the opportunities arose.  The B01s continue to showcase their talents well and play some exciting soccer.  Coach Javi was proud of the way the boys responded from their previous match. Well done boys!

The B02s got a great result on Sunday against a great Fury team.  The boys were down 2-1 with less than 2 minutes to go.  Thanks to a head’s up play from Alex DeSimone, Alex attempted to lob the goalkeeper from 45 yards out.  The keeper tracked back and made a diving save to push it wide.  However, thanks to another head’s up play from midfielder Nick Larson, he was able to read the play and have a simple tap in to level the score up 2-2.  Positive result from the boys to end the spring season.  Coach Keegan was proud of the way the boys continued to battle to the last whistle. Well done boys!

We round off our weekly review with the B06 White Bellevue team who won a very tough and physical match against West Narrows FC at Harbor Ridge Middle School.  Coach Nelson was impressed with the way the team let the game develop and played out of the back to move the ball up the field.  The players were buzzing in the flanks, peppered the frame of the goal from all over the place, and tucked away two solid goals to come out on top 2-1.  Great stuff boys!
